A note from the PRJKT8 team
We chose it for clients who already wear MB&F and want the room to match. The red eye catches you from across the boutique, and behind it is a real L'Epée 1839 clock movement that asks for its key only once every 8 days. Art that keeps time, with talons.PRJKT8
MB&F launched the T-Rex under the title Jurassic Art. This is the red edition, and its hand-blown Murano glass eye glows like a warning light on top of a long pair of legs.
It began as a one-off for the Only Watch charity auction, with a small rider aboard, as Tom & T-Rex. The series that followed dropped the rider and kept the stance: jointed legs of polished and sandblasted metal, taloned feet, and a skeletonised sphere that holds the movement.
L'Epée 1839 makes that movement in-house: 138 components and 17 jewels, with the balance lying flat at 2.5 Hz and the barrel at the back giving 8 days per wind. A single key winds it from behind and sets the steel hands through the centre of the eye.
265 mm tall and about 2 kg. Limited to 100 pieces in red.
