Why we chose it

A note from the PRJKT8 team

We chose it because it is the closest most collectors will get to an Antiqua, and it is not a copy of one. Louis Erard built a case it had never made, with two movements and 67 parts, and kept it 8.85 mm thin. The Gold is the warmer of the two, and the one we’d wear first.

The watch

Futur Antérieur looks at Vianney Halter’s Antiqua through two portholes. Raised, riveted bezels frame two separate dials, hours and minutes on one and seconds on the other, and each has its own automatic movement.

The Gold edition sets yellow-gilt 1N grained dials under blued steel hands, with gilt rivets on both bezels and both crowns, on black ostrich leather.

Louis Erard built a new steel case for it from 67 components, 38 by 44 mm and only 8.85 mm thick. Two Sellita SW100 calibres sit inside, one per dial. Limited to 178 pieces.

The name is the French tense for what will have happened. Two watchmakers with this much history together could hardly call it anything else.
