Grand Seiko - SLGH005 (White Birch)

The dial of the SLGH005 is pressed with the texture of white birch bark, after the birch forest around Grand Seiko's studio in Shizukuishi, where this watch was made. Turn your wrist and the ridges catch the light one way, then another.

The 40.0 mm steel case belongs to the Evolution 9 collection: 11.7 mm thick, 47.0 mm from lug to lug, under a box-shaped sapphire crystal, with a screw-down crown and 10 bar of water resistance.

Inside is the calibre 9SA5, a Hi-Beat movement at 36,000 vph with approximately 80 hours of power reserve, visible through the caseback. Grand Seiko rates it at +5 to -3 seconds a day.

Bought in 2022, it comes with its box and papers, on the steel bracelet with a push-button folding clasp.
