We chose it for the enamel. Grand Feu white has a depth that printed dials cannot quite copy, and the small flash of red on the XII keeps it from taking itself too seriously. It is a métiers d’art dial in a 39 mm steel watch you can wear every day, and only 99 were made.PRJKT8
Grand Feu enamel is fired in a kiln, one colour at a time, and the kiln does not always cooperate. Louis Erard admits a high rate of loss. This white dial is one that made it through.
It is made the traditional way by Donzé Cadrans, white enamel with blue and red enamelled transfers: blue for the indexes and a flash of red on the XII and the small seconds at 6 o’clock. Louis Erard says its artisans can make only a handful of these dials a month.
The 39 mm polished steel case frames it under domed sapphire, with blued steel fir tree hands. Inside is the automatic Sellita SW261-1 in Élaboré grade, with about 38 hours of power reserve. Water resistant to 50 m. On red grained calf with blue stitching. Limited to 99 pieces.
