A note from the PRJKT8 team
We chose it because red is the colour a rocket ought to be. The engineering is serious, a vertical L'Epée movement with an 8-day reserve, but the first thing clients do is look for Neil on the ladder, and then smile. Few clocks start a conversation this quickly.PRJKT8
The red edition is the brightest of the Destination Moon rockets, and the one whose landing pods are anodised aluminium rather than coated brass.
Inside, L'Epée 1839 stacks the movement upwards in stages, the way a rocket stacks its engines: the barrel at the base, the balance higher up behind a small panel of mineral glass, and the hour and minute discs on top, their numerals stamped into steel. MB&F's design leaves almost all of it on show.
Turn the propulsion wheel to wind it and it keeps going for 8 days. The movement has 17 jewels and 164 parts, polished, bead-blasted and satin-brushed. Neil, the silver astronaut, rides the ladder on a magnet. The rocket stands 41.4 cm tall. Limited to 50 pieces in each colour.
