Description

HM12 is a watch that becomes a robot’s head; The Guardian is the robot. In the Blue edition the face shields and the robot’s body are blue, straight out of an old science-fiction film.

Read the watch as a face. The jumping hours and trailing minutes are the eyes, the flying tourbillon above them is the brain, and half of the double-sided micro-rotor sits below as the mouth. Turn the left crown and the shields close over the face, open again, or stop anywhere in between.

The in-house automatic calibre has 646 components and runs for 84 hours, in a Grade 5 titanium case of 49.3 by 43.6 mm and 13.8 mm thick. Lift the watch off its Velcro strap and it clips onto The Guardian, a 38.2 cm robot developed with L’Epée 1839 that carries a mechanical thermometer and a UV torch.
