1941 Principia Automatic Salmon Dial
Description
Salmon dials are usually warm all over. This one is cooled with blue: a blue minute track and blue printing, flame-blued hands, and a blue buffalo strap stitched in orange.
Under the salmon finish the dial is solid sterling silver, with polished applied batons and a small seconds dial. Principia is borrowed from Newton's book on motion and gravity, a fitting name for Grönefeld's first automatic, which runs on exactly that: every movement of the wrist swings the rotor.
The G-06 calibre pairs stainless steel bridges in the outline of Dutch bell gables with a 22-carat solid gold rotor on a ceramic ball bearing and 56 hours of reserve, all on view through the sapphire caseback. The 39.5 mm stainless steel case is the 1941, which takes its name from the year the brothers' father was born.
