UR-100V ULTRAVIOLET

URWERK chose violet because it is the last colour the eye can see before light becomes ultraviolet. The UR-100V Ultraviolet wears it everywhere: violet DLC over a sandblasted, shot-blasted titanium case, and a violet display under the sapphire.

The time is read off satellites. A carousel carries the hour numerals round, and whichever hour is crossing the minute track also gives you the minutes. Either side, two scales measure the Earth’s motion over 20 minutes: rotation at the Equator on one, orbit around the Sun on the other.

The automatic UR 12.02 runs for 48 hours, its rotor governed by an airscrew so the winding never races. The case is 41 by 49.7 mm and 14 mm thick, with a sapphire caseback and water resistance to 30 m. On a textured rubber strap with a titanium pin buckle.
