Malevich held the cross to be the most complex shape in his geometric cycle. Raketa made this one with the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg, home of the Black Cross.
Its vertical and horizontal lines join the active and the passive, and Malevich saw the cross, with the square and the circle, as a traditional symbol of the universe. Fitting, for a brand named after a rocket. The dial is agate in black, white and tinted transparent stone, picked to resemble the painting.
Its 40 mm steel case is 14.05 mm thick and water resistant to 10 ATM, with sapphire and a synthetic ruby in the crown. Inside, Raketa's self-winding calibre 2615 runs for 40 hours.
The strap is genuine leather, on Raketa's quick-change system.
