Description

Most black dials are painted black. On the Extra Plat Rose Gold Gilt, the black is what gets added, and the gold is what is left showing.

The dial starts as solid gold, engraved by hand with pinstripe guilloché on a traditional rose engine, with a circular filet sauté guilloché around the chapter ring. The Roman numerals, the signature and the individual number are masked, the dial is electroplated in stages until it turns deep black, and when the masks come off the gold below shows through. Nothing on it is printed.

The 5N rose gold double-ellipse case is 38.6 × 35.5 mm and 7.7 mm thick. Inside is the hand-wound DR002 from La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, all 143 components visible through the back, with 65 hours of power reserve.
