Manuel Emch of Louis Erard recalls that Konstantin Chaykin called with a grin: making watches together was fun, but he wanted to sell a few himself.
Louis Erard today introduces Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin III, the third Time Eater, in two editions of 178 pieces each. For the first time, both makers sell it: Louis Erard offers the blue edition, and Konstantin Chaykin the red.
The face is the one collectors nicknamed Time Eater. A convex white hours disc at 12 o’clock is its single eye, and a spinning toothed seconds disc at 6 o’clock its mouth. The central minutes hand ends in two monster hands. The blue edition measures 42mm and the red 39mm, both in polished steel with a crown signed by Chaykin.
“So two years after the original Cyclops, part Slavic myth, part horological joker, we return with a new sequel,” says Emch, who leads Louis Erard. Inside is an automatic, regulator-type Sellita SW266-1.
This time, there is no side to choose — only a colour.
