Daniel Roth Extra Plat, in platinum
At La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, Master Watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini oversee the calibre DR002, built to Mr. Roth’s principle of clarity and proportion.
Daniel Roth today introduces the Extra Plat Platinum, bringing its Extra Plat into a platinum case.

Platinum is significantly denser than gold and harder to work, often taking up to three times as long, the brand says. Its weight gives the double-ellipse case a sense of quiet permanence. The dial is solid gold with an anthracite finish, and its centre is hand-engraved with a guilloché “en ligne” on an antique rose engine.
Inside, the manual-winding DR002 carries Côtes de Genève, perlage and rounded “bercé” internal angles, each finished by hand with traditional “cabron” tools. The lugs curve downwards to follow the line of the wrist, and the watch is finished on a light-tan calfskin strap.
It is the same calibre as its gold-cased siblings, in a metal chosen for what it does not need to prove.
