Only two specialists at GT Cadrans can make the dial of the Promenade Midnight Pearl: blue aventurine glass laid over Tahitian mother-of-pearl, around 0.4mm thick in all.
Czapek introduces the Promenade Midnight Pearl, limited to 38 pieces, alongside the Antarctique S Ice Cloud. The brand says the sandwich construction of its dial is protected by a patent.
The Tahitian nacre was chosen for its grey colour and violet and green reflections, and it is assembled to the aventurine entirely by hand. The hardest step is milling the small seconds groove at 4:30 into the aventurine without harming the nacre below; every dial that results is unique.
Inside is Czapek’s own Calibre SXH5.1, with a small seconds function and a micro-rotor in recycled platinum. “These two timepieces represent Czapek’s commitment to creative craftsmanship and artistic innovation,” says Xavier de Roquemaurel, CEO of Czapek.
Every dial in the run looks a little different, though Czapek keeps the nacre’s fire – the angle where its shimmer is brightest – consistent from piece to piece.
