The Orbit shows its date only when asked: press the pusher at 10 o'clock, and a hand points to today's date on the ceramic bezel.
Armin Strom today introduces two fumé dials for the Orbit, in the System 78 collection: Lime Green and Ice Blue, 20 pieces each.
Calibre ASS20 is, the brand says, the first movement with a date shown on a ceramic bezel only on demand. A pusher at 10 o'clock sends the date hand to today's date, driven by a column wheel, and a second press returns it to 12 o'clock. The patented Equal Force Barrel gives steady energy over 72 hours.
Each Orbit is hand-finished at the manufacture in Biel, with anglage, perlage and circular graining applied by hand to every part. The gradient dials fade from their colour to black at the edges, and the open right side of the case shows three hand-finished finger bridges through the anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
